BIOGRAPHY

Holly Frakes (b. 2000) is a studio artist based in Kansas City, MO. Working intuitively, she creates Imaginative landscapes and invented tokens to explore themes of desire and solitude. First studying interior design and later fine art at Kansas State University, she received her BFA with a focus in painting in 2023.

During her time in university, Frakes received the Anderson Ranch Partnership Scholarship (2023), Chapman Mellethin Fine Arts Scholarship (2022, 2023), and Oscar V Larmer Scholarship (2022, 2023). As well as placing first in the Midwest 2022 IDEC Design Competition along with her peers Mimi Anderson and Savannah Hinck.

Frakes’ work has been shown at: Kansas State University (2022, 2023), Labette Community College (2022), Albrecht-Kemper Museum in St. Joseph, Missouri (2023), New York Academy of Art, New York, NY (2024), and Kiosk Gallery, Kansas City, MO (2025).
